S&DMCC Memorial Ride

During the Covid-19 pandemic, five of our members have sadly died:

• Jim Carmichael
• Chris Tait
• Arnold Hoiles
• Maurice Hallett
• Dave White.

But, as a Club, we weren’t able to celebrate their lives, for example by attending funerals or wakes.

So, on Sunday 15th August 2021, we held a memorial group ride in their honour.

Meeting at the Chequers at Bragbury End, we took a route past each member’s home and ended at one of our Monday night pubs where we enjoyed a social gathering over a drink.

It was such a success, we have made it an annual event, particularly to remember any members lost each year but also to remember all our passed away current and past members.

Since last year’s memorial Ride, Dave Price, Doug Lake and Pete Starr left us for good.

This year we will be setting off from the Poplars Sainsburys at 11:00 and finishing around lunch time at the Hoops in Bassingbourn.

The Club will be providing some free drinks to members to raise a toast.

We hope you can make it for this mark of respect.

Although we will form as one big group, we will have several ride leaders spread through the group so there will be no need for the main group to stay as one for the entire route.
